Minds in Play was written by Yasmin B. Kafai about her work at an =
elementary school for her master's (or maybe it was her Doctorate) from =
MIT. It is very case study kind of approach of her observations of =
several children who were assigned to creat games in Microworlds during =
the school year and how they pursued that goal.
I did not respond to the Montessori person because I know so little =
about Montessori, and only a little more about Microworlds. I am involved =
in teaching some Microworlds stuff to my grand children right now and find =
that even the three year old is making progress when her Mom helps her.

I have not heard about "Minds in Play" but I'm sure the members of this =
list would like to know about it. Can anyone tell us about it and where =
it can be ordered?

By the way, an earlier posting from a couple of weeks ago, asking for =
suggestions on teaching MicroWorlds in a Montessori environment, received =
no replies. I think most of us apparently are not Montessori teachers. =
But I think that the general approaches to teaching MicroWorlds would be =
very appropriate in that environment, from what I understand. I hope some =
list members will share with the list how you encourage some individual =
approaches to using MicroWorlds while also covering some of the basic =
skills.

Hello, out there!

I'm a 4th/5th grade teacher, new to this list. Does anyone know how many =
people use this list presently?
=20
Has anyone read Minds In Play about creating computer games using =
MicroWorlds?
