The Mystery1 project worked fine for me, but I had to wait several
minutes for all of the project elements to load (after the project
appeared on the screen) before I clicked the "go" button. There was a
warning about that on the introductory page. There are some large .wav
files that need to download first.
We need to consider such things when posting projects online. The sound
files really liven up the project, but quite likely the casual visitor
will not wait several minutes to be able to begin viewing one project.
Maybe it is worth adapting the sound files for the online version to
shorten or eliminate background music while keeping sound effects like
the thunder.
Lisa, thank you so much for sharing your www.cosmicthinkers.com site
with us. I had not known of it before. You should contact Shawn at
LCSI ( info@lcsi.ca) to ask him to post a link to it from the
microworlds.com links page.
I really like the way you draw our attention to the special features of
each portion of the mystery.
I am delighted to hear that you've converted many parents (as well as
students) to the joys of programming with MicroWorlds. I think it is
easy to convince kids who become very excited about the limitless
possibilities once they begin exploring with MW. I think it can be
considerably harder to convince parents and school administrators and
teachers who do not take the time to explore MW on their own. Perhaps
you could share with us how you got the parents on your side. Did you
invite them in for visits, send explanatory letters, send home copies of
student projects ... ??
