Greetings to the members of the MWForum!
MWForum (the MicroWorlds Forum) is moving to a new home at OpenWorld
Learning. We will have a new e-mail address and a new list page and a new
location for the archives and attachments... but we will be the same
MicroWorlds sharing and support group that we have been for the past several
years.
For those of you who've been with us since the beginning, you may recall
that we started out as a Yahoo group. We left Yahoo to avoid the ads and
occasional spam. I began hosting the forum from my Math Cats website, and
OpenWorld Learning (OWL) began providing some support for the list. For
instance, a question form on the MicroWorlds in Action website (funded by
OWL) sends relevant questions directly to the MWForum so that non-members
can ask one-time questions. Daniel Ajoy, OWL's web guru, screens the
questions before forwarding them and makes sure that our replies get sent to
the person asking the question. In this way, our forum has been able to
provide MicroWorlds support to the larger MicroWorlds community. Daniel has
also set up an effective way to automate the archiving of attachments, which
I had had to do manually for our current set-up. OWL is very interested in
providing ongoing support for the MWForum, and it makes sense for the list
to be hosted at OWL for the smoothest functioning of the list.
I will remain the moderator of the MWForum. Since we rely so much on Daniel
for so much of the behind-the-scenes support and up-front support, it seems
like a no-brainer to declare Daniel the co-moderator of the MWForum.
Thanks, Daniel!!
In a little while, you will receive a welcome message from MWForum's new
home. It will include information on the new e-mail address, the new list
home and archives, and how to unsubscribe. If you are currently subscribed
to the digest version, we'll maintain that setting. Please keep in mind
that digest subscribers cannot receive attachments (although you will be
able to access them online and the attachments archive will be updated in
real time). As the list traffic is generally light, you might consider
changing your subscription to receive each message as it comes in so that
you can receive the MicroWorlds projects that are sent as attachments. You
may contact me through the list-owner's address or through my Math Cats
e-mail address below to request a change from daily digest version to the
every-message version (or vice versa).
Thanks for your ongoing interest in the MWForum!
