Hi my name is Traci Trimbach. This is my first semester teaching
MicroWorlds to middleschoolers. We were formerly using Logowriter if
you can believe that. Logowriter worked fine in our Computer II classes
to teach programming, but we wanted to add robotics to our 8th grade
physical sciences so we upgraded to MicroWorlds to keep the programming
in Computer II and get the robotics capabilities. What I like best
about MicroWorlds is the automatic feedback you get - your program
either works or it doesn't and it lets you know to some extent where to
go look for the problem. What I am finding frustrating is the 30 year
leap from Logowriter to MicroWorlds. Much of it is very similar but I
have found a few commands which I really like in Logowriter have changed
or disappeared in MicroWorlds. I am hoping this group can help me get
over the steep learning curve and give me some ideas to implement as we
move forward and expand our use of this program.
